CCEF Secures Grants to Support Classroom Innovation at Lin Howe Elementary
In collaboration with CCEF, the Culver City Rotary Community Foundation along with CCUSD parents Justin & Mena Jampol have each pledged $10,000 in grant funding for Linwood E. Howe Elementary to create two new shared learning spaces which will be used by multiple classrooms and intervention teachers to support students with smaller group instruction throughout the day.
Teachers and administration collaborated on this idea to repurpose rooms that had been damaged by the school’s recent water pipe break. The new “Literacy Lab” and “Math Center” will benefit students at both ends of the learning spectrum – both struggling and advanced students will have a better opportunity to have smaller, focused learning sessions outside of their classroom. The new spaces will also allow the school to host on-site professional development, teacher collaboration, and parent workshops. Casey Chabola, Principal at Lin Howe, believes this funding will improve student academic achievement at the school. “We are excited to make better use of our space thanks to this grant, and our students and staff will benefit greatly from the donors’ generosity. Thank you.”
