More than 140 Culver City High School graduates in 2019 and 2020 were able to apply to the college of their choice without paying an application fee, courtesy of a new program sponsored by the CCEF.

The program, named #IApplied, provides up to $100 for one college application by each graduating student to a college of their choice.

CCEF agreed to fund the program after being approached by Dr. Lisa Cooper, CCHS principal. She saw a troubling gap between students from affluent families and those from lower-income households.

“Everyone talks about the high cost of attending college, but we often overlook how expensive it is just to apply to well-known schools.  I wanted to remove any barrier that stood between our graduating students and the opportunity to apply to the school of their choice,” said Dr. Lisa Cooper, principal of CCHS.
