Culver City Unified School District (CCUSD) students and teachers received a boost on October 1, 2025 from Amazon through a $25,000 donation to the Culver City Education Foundation (CCEF), a $10,000 DonorsChoose matching campaign, and a districtwide school supplies donation hosted at Linwood E. Howe Elementary School.

The DonorsChoose campaign, launched on September 23, 2025, allowed CCUSD teachers to submit projects for funding. Eleven were fully funded thanks to Amazon’s gift – ranging from early literacy tools like decodable readers and Spanish books, to hands-on STEM resources like dissection kits and a 3D printer. Music and art supplies, classroom essentials, and headphones for language learning were also covered, supporting students from TK through high school.

Amazon employees from the Culver City offices and local sites also organized a school-supplies drive, delivering two truckloads of backpacks, notebooks, crayons, pencils, and other essential items for students across the district.

“We are thrilled to see students receiving these much-needed school supplies, which will help ensure every classroom in Culver City has the tools to support learning and creativity,” said CCUSD Superintendent Dr. Alfonso Jiménez. “Amazon’s generosity makes a real difference in the day-to-day experiences of our students, and helps teachers focus on what matters most: inspiring and educating our kids.”

“Amazon’s $25,000 leadership gift will support districtwide programs funded by CCEF, ensuring that all students and educators in Culver City have access to the resources they need to succeed,” said CCEF Executive Director Wendy Hamill. “Contributions like this help us provide exceptional learning opportunities for all 6,500 CCUSD students.

Students also had the opportunity to receive new backpacks and supplies, and celebrate with the Culver City High School Marching Band and Color Guard.

This event underscores the importance of collaboration between local businesses, nonprofits, and schools to enhance educational opportunities. Amazon’s donations provide CCUSD teachers with resources to create more engaging, creative, and effective learning environments.
