CCEF Funded Program Sends all 5th & 8th Graders to Local College Campuses

The CCEF sponsors a unique program that sends all fifth and eighth grade students in the CCUSD to visit local college campuses. In a typical year, some 1,100 students participate districtwide.

The concept of sending elementary school students on college field trips began in 2012 at one CCUSD school. Parents and the principal realized in some cases, students from low-income families had never been to a college campus and did not understand what a college education meant. CCEF provided support to expand the program to all five district elementary schools.
