Supervisor Holly J. Mitchell Supports Music Education

hjm

CCEF announces receipt of a $5,000 grant from the office of Supervisor Holly J. Mitchell, LA County Board of Supervisors, Second District. Recently named “Best Communities for Music Education” by the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) for the third year in a row, CCUSD’s dynamic music programs support students throughout their K-12 journey. This grant from Supervisor Mitchell’s office allows CCEF to continue to fund culturally-relevant programs in our 4th and 5th grades through our partner the Symphony Jazz Orchestra (SJO). Their 4th grade program, Music of the World, uses musical traditions to teach students about different cultures from around the world. In the 5th grade program, Music of America, students explore American history alongside American music history from the British influence to Stephen Foster, ragtime to R&B, blues to bebop, and rock to hip hop. Thank you, Team Mitchell, for supporting a diverse education for all Culver City students!
